The History of Captain Webster

The beginning of the adventure, during the advent of the internet . . .

The idea of Captain Webster and his soggy crew set sail in 1993, when there were no online comics and the world was uncharted.  Domain names were thought of as a flash in the pan.  Al Ochsner and Ron Jones combined Al's artistic ability (drawing skill, joke writing ability) with Ron's computer savvy (digital wisdom and applicable foresight).  They combined their shared sophomoric foolishness childish & dark humor to bring Captain Webster and his crew to life.  The series gained a small following and was one of the initial 'online cartoons' even getting the attention of WIRED magazine.

Misfortune and hard times caused the Ambergris to be dry docked and the characters were forced to lay low, stranded on a desert isle, when single parenting made Al to redirect his direction to survival mode for he and his sons.  Years later, the Ambergris was returned to the sea, the crew escaped from their marooned fate and sail in a different direction.

What you see now, is the creative efforts and combined talents of a new time. The future is unwritten and unfolding.
